Betsy Helmuth is an interior designer and founder of Uploft Interior Design, a family of brands that includes Affordable, Modern, and Office Interior Design. In nineteen years as a business owner, she’s worked with over a thousand clients. Her 7-figure firm is run by 10 powerhouse women who work together to transform spaces in NYC and Washington, DC. She has also designed in India, England, Argentina, Germany, and beyond!

Betsy is the author of a bestselling DIY design book, Big Design, Small Budget, which was published in hardcover by Skyhorse Publishing and was released in paperback under the title Affordable Interior Design.

Additionally, she shot a pilot for HGTV, was featured twice on The Today Show, and appeared on Lifetime Television, CBS News, MSNBC, CNN, and in a recurring role on the DIY Network. Her design work and other artistic pursuits have been covered by The NYTimes (including a write-up by author Ada Calhoun) as well as by The Wall Street Journal, NYPost, USA Today, and Small Room Decorating Magazine. She also appeared in Westchester Magazine, Curbed, amNY, Apartmentality, MetroNY, and The Huffington Post.

Betsy has also been on the airwaves for the past 9 years, recording her top-rated, weekly podcast, Affordable Interior Design by Uploft, named a “Design Podcast You Should Be Listening To” by House Beautiful. She’s been a guest on numerous podcasts, including EOFire, Open for Business, Entrepreneur Decoded, Busy Creator, Chaise Lounge, Decorating Tips and Tricks, Growing Joy, and Keith and the Girl Comedy Podcast where she was crowned 2022’s “Saddest Moment” Award Winner.

Betsy created and leads a training program, Uploft Interior Design Academy, teaching designers the skills to take paying clients.

The wife of a comedy-writer husband (to whom she got engaged after a mere 10 weeks of dating), Betsy is the proud mother of three children: two teens and a baby. (Whoops.) She is also the doting caregiver to two elderly pets: a chihuahua (rescued from an Alabama dirt road) and a cat (rescued from a Bronx alley.) She and her brood make their home in Connecticut in a turn-of-the-century, Italian-inspired villa built by Princess Diana’s uncle. (Yes, you read that right.)
